Chicory has been known since antiquity. In ancient Egypt it was considered like a magical herb that gives beauty and success. In the past, it was used in medicine as a panacea. As in the past, chicory is currently used mainly in folk medicine and in phytotherapy. Mostly are used the plant roots for this purpose. Our grandparents knew it and used it as the St. Peter´s spice. The drink from the dried boiled water was called "Cigorka". Roasting and blending the root of chicory and barley produced a fragrant and delicious cereal drink that perfectly replaced and still replaces coffee, and not only for people who prefer a healthy lifestyle. Beverages containing roasted chicory coffee perceived because of their typical taste of pure nature and positive effects on the body.

Inulin has a positive effect on diabetes

Its main component is fructose; its entry into cells does not require insulin, which is often lacking in diabetes. Consumption of foods with higher fiber and hence inulin results in lower and more stable blood glucose levels.

CONSUMER DATA

Ingredients: ground roasted chicory (Cichorium intybus) - root with natural content of inulin min. 35%

Instructions for preparation:

Put 1 (max. 2)  coffe spoon of Cigoria to a coffee cup, pour with boiling water, mix and allow to settle.

Put 1 - 2 tablespoons of Cigoria  into the coffee machine and let 1 liter of water drip.

Put 1-2 tablespoons of Cigoria into 1 l of boiling water and cook briefly while stirring occasionally. Let minimum 3 min and then strain.

You can sweeten your drink and soften it with milk or cream for better taste. The drink can be hot as a coffee or cold to refresh.
